Backups have saved me multiple times already. I use a mix of both self-hosted backups for important stuff like passwords as well as cloud storage (Amazon Glacier). It's super cheap for the storage capacity you get, but it might take up to 48h to retrieve your data from them. But for photos, documents etc. it's perfect.
For local backups I use the zfs filesystem and its snapshotting feature. These are the ones I push up to the cloud.
Sounds like you got your backups under control which is fantastic. Combining types for different data is also great since it gives you redundancy and continuity. I agree though, always encrypt, as strong as you can!
