After 7+ years building web and mobile products, I've learned that client requests come with a hidden translation. Here's my decoder ring. š
1. "Can you just add a small button?"
Translation: This needs a new API endpoint, a database change, permissions, and a UI state.
What helps: A quick call to understand the real goal behind the button.
2. "It's like Uber, but for [X]."
Translation: I have a great idea and need help turning it into scope.
What helps: Shrinking it to one core flow and shipping that first.
3. "We just need a simple app."
Translation: Simple for the user. Complex underneath.
What helps: Picking a reliable stack (React, Node, Laravel, Ionic, AWS) so "simple" stays simple.
4. "It worked yesterday."
Translation: Something changed. Probably the environment.
What helps: Logging, monitoring, and CI/CD from day one.
5. "Can we launch next week?"
Translation: We're excited and a bit nervous.
What helps: An honest plan: what ships now, what comes next.
The pattern
Almost every project goes better when someone owns the whole picture, from design to database to deployment, and tells you the truth early.
That's how I work. š¤
Let's build something
I'm open to freelance projects right now: web apps, mobile apps, APIs, and AWS setups.
