- Making Edge Logic Truly Programmable: The TypeScript EB Compiler
EdgeBus (EB) was introduced by ManThink in 2018 as a lightweight execution framework designed specifically for retrofitting existing field devices. Initially developed for large-scale heating retrofit projects, EB addressed challenges such as fragmented protocols, constrained hardware resources, and unstable field conditions.
Over years of deployment, EB has evolved into a robust solution featuring minimal resource consumption, event-driven communication, support for COV-based reporting, and compatibility with more than 200 industrial protocols.
However, earlier versions relied heavily on complex configuration files, limiting development to a small group of specialists.
In 2025, ManThink released the TypeScript-based EB Compiler, encapsulating EB capabilities into a modern, event-driven programming model. Developers can now implement advanced data acquisition logic using clean and readable TypeScript code, without deep embedded-system expertise.
This shift enables faster onboarding, easier maintenance, and broader adoption of edge intelligence across heterogeneous devices.
- ThinkLink Platform Fully Open and Free
First released in 2019, ThinkLink is a lightweight IoT platform deeply integrated with LoRaWAN network servers. It provides device modeling, automation, dashboards, OTA updates, protocol conversion, and flexible MQTT data routing.
With extremely low resource requirements, ThinkLink can even run directly on LoRaWAN gateways, making it ideal for small and medium-scale deployments.
Starting in 2025, ManThink made ThinkLink fully available worldwide, offering complete installation packages and Docker images at no cost and without feature limitations.
- Looking Ahead to 2026
In 2026, ManThink will continue expanding EB-based sensor support, targeting at least 200 new device types in the first half of the year. Platform visualization and configuration capabilities will also be enhanced, all remaining free for users and partners.
- Open Collaboration
ManThink welcomes collaboration with sensor manufacturers, system integrators, and solution providers seeking to connect existing devices via LoRaWAN. Technical support and device integration services are provided free of charge, with no licensing fees.
By focusing on connectivity fundamentals, ManThink aims to unlock long-term value for the entire IoT ecosystem.
