Today, I called a friend because I was at the verge of breaking. I knew something was deeply wrong, but when they asked me what was happening, I couldn't even explain it. The pain was real, but the words were missing.
After offering a few words of encouragement, my friend simply said:
"Read Romans 8:25–28."
I opened my Bible, and these verses met me exactly where I was.
Romans 8:25–28 (NIV)
25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God.
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
A Short Reflection
What touched me most was verse 26.
There are moments in life when our hearts are so overwhelmed that we cannot even explain our pain—not to family, not to friends, and sometimes not even to God. Yet the Bible reminds us that the Holy Spirit understands what we cannot express. He intercedes for us when words fail.
Verse 25 teaches us to keep hoping, even while we wait. Waiting is not a sign that God has forgotten us. Sometimes, God is working behind the scenes in ways we cannot yet see.
Then comes the beautiful promise in verse 28:
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
Notice that it doesn't say all things are good. It says God works in all things for good. Even our tears, disappointments, unanswered questions, and silent battles are not beyond His reach. He is able to use them for a greater purpose.
To Anyone Who Needs This Today
If you're reading this while carrying a burden you cannot explain, this message is for you.
If you've cried without knowing why...
If you've prayed but couldn't find the words...
If your heart feels heavy for reasons you can't even describe...
Take comfort in this:
God understands what your mouth cannot say.
The Holy Spirit is praying for you even when you cannot pray for yourself.
Keep holding on.
Keep hoping.
Keep trusting.
Your waiting is not wasted.
God is working, even when you cannot see it.
Your chapter is not over, and neither is your story.

Be encouraged. God sees you, God hears you, and God is already at work.
