I find the mental model of tools like Astro or Slinkity or even Eleventy + Alpine + vanilla easier to grasp and generally more flexible and more transparent. It's probably because of the clear separation between the client side and the server side code.
Those are all MPAs like the first category. For those used to the power of SPAs it is a bit harder to just give up those benefits. However, the way things are looking we might be able to get the benefit of both soon enough.
