How to measure AI referral traffic begins by separating a human click from an automated crawler request.

Clics Analytics uses the HTTP referrer to identify measurable visits from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot.

Find the provider

Open AI Analytics and select a provider tab.

The view updates the visitor chart and the breakdown cards for that source.

You can inspect landing pages, referrer and UTM details, countries, devices, browsers, operating systems, and supported custom events.

Account for missing attribution

Referrer-based attribution has a clear limit.

If the AI assistant removes the referrer or the visitor arrives as direct traffic, the visit cannot be reliably assigned to the provider.

The report identifies a recognizable AI product. It does not reveal the exact model version behind the visit.

Connect the click to value

Review the landing page and its intended action.

Did the visitor open pricing, start signup, create an account, or trigger another meaningful event?

Compare AI providers with the same conversion definition and date range used for search, social, newsletters, and campaigns.

A small source can still send high-intent visitors.

Review crawler activity separately

Clics tracks verified AI crawler requests with a server-side package.

Crawler data shows automated access to pages. It does not represent human visits and should not enter goals or funnels.

Use referral data for acquisition and conversion decisions. Use crawler data to understand which content verified AI systems request.

A useful report ends with one content update or conversion test.
