Hello world!

I imagine this title is waaaay overused for new users (though this is my first experience here so I haven't seen anything to confirm this), but I wanted to get my account out there and say hello to all of the long-time and other new users dwelling here!

To introduce myself as a celebration to my first post: My name is Sam, I am currently 23 years old, female (she/her), I draw and do commissions as a supplement income to my primary job, and I have a special interest in Anatomy and Physiology facts! I also love to play video games, particularly anything Pokemon or Legend of Zelda.

It's a pleasure to meet you all, and I'm looking forward to posting the inner workings of my mind while I continue my journey through education in software engineering! I'm hoping this will also be a great place to hone my skills and learn how to better myself as a developer through the guiding hands of other, more experienced developers.

Thank you all for your attention!

Hi Sam, and Welcome. Which aspect/s of software engineering are you interested in?

It's cool that you like to draw. Do you have any artwork that we can see online? I had a go at drawing using nothing but a ballpoint pen a little while back. If you're interested, you can see my somewhat crude attempt at artwork here

Thank you! When it comes to software engineering, I think the aspect that interests me most is the way it makes me think. It feels like a mixture of math and science (both of which were my favorite subjects in school), and I love the rush I get whenever I have a theory or challenge I want to attempt, to find that I was correct and succeeded in accomplishing my goal. It's exactly the kind of reward-response that keeps me motivated! When it comes to what about software engineering that I enjoy learning, my interests there are pretty broad. Front-end development has been a lot of fun for me to learn, and I'm not very well versed in back-end development yet but I'm excited to learn and see how well I take to it. Assuming all goes well, in time, I'd love to be versed in full-stack development.

Also, I love your art!! The picture of the flower is really gorgeous, you've got talent! Yes, though, I post a lot of my art publicly on my instagram! It's mostly Splatoon content since I've been a fan for ~7 years and I have original characters I've created and love to draw 😊I also drew this pokemon tattoo concept for my parents, who commissioned me! They wanted to get matching tattoos for their anniversary!

I know what you mean by the maths and science bit. In addition to that, I also think of it like 'logical Lego', if that makes any sense.

I've only been here since this year and have been writing a bit about Git - mostly on some areas that I've noticed a few people get stuck on. I'm thinking of writing a bit on C# coding patterns too. That's mostly a back-end language; if you think that might be interesting, watch this space. (ok well, not literally this space but you get the meaning). And if not, that's cool - plenty of other writers and topics on here too!

Thanks for taking a look at my drawings. I actually found the orchid really difficult, so I'm pleased that it came out well. I do love your artwork; do you do digital painting, or what tools do you use?

Ohh, that's a fun way to think of it! I've never heard that before, I'm gonna have to start using that, haha!

Sounds like you've been doing your part, certainly! Once I start leaning more into back-end code I'll definitely have to take a look at some of your writings, it sounds like it could be very helpful! Thanks for letting me know! 😊

Yeah, no problem! I love meeting other artists! Even though it's not something I'm ever looking into pursuing solely as a career, it is something I'm very passionate about, and finding someone to share it with is always very nice! The orchid was very beautiful, I totally get where you're coming from when it comes to difficulty! Flowers have always been a struggle for me as well, though they are good sources of inspiration.
Also, thanks so much! I use an app called Clipstudio Paint. I used to use Paint Tool Sai (And FireAlpaca before that) but found that Clipstudio has a much broader selection of many things like tools and brushes, and downloading + creating custom brushes is a lot more intuitive with CSP.

Hey there, Sam! It's awesome to have you here with us, especially given your intriguing interests! As someone who loves drawing, commissions, and has a fascination with anatomy and physiology facts, it's really cool that you're also into gaming, particularly Pokemon and Legend of Zelda.

It's fantastic that you're using this platform to share your journey through software engineering with us, and I can't wait to see more of your contributions. As a fellow gamer, I'm curious to know if you've tried playing Factorio? It's a great game that can help you improve your analytical and problem-solving skills. Keep writing and engaging with the community, and we'll learn and grow together!

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! It's always fun to meet someone with similar interests and I'm happy to be out here making new friends and acquaintances!

I have not tried playing it, no! Looking into it, construction and management games aren't typically my style per se, but since you recommended it I might look into it sometime! I am a little intrigued, for sure. And to your last remark; Can do! I'm looking forward to doing exactly that as I continue to move closer to having a career in the Web/Software development field!

Thank you! I certainly plan to make steady posts as I learn and grow in the field. I'm still pretty new, all things considered, to professional software development, so I imagine I'll be posting pretty often. Lots of content for me to learn!
