A Weekend Discovery: When Your Project Gets Copied (And Why It’s a Good Thing)
Over the weekend, I stumbled upon something interesting a new developer tools website with a concept and structure that closely mirrors Devkit, the curated developer tools hub I’ve been building and refining.
From the layout to the tool descriptions, it felt... familiar.
But here’s my take:
I’m not mad, I’m motivated.
If someone replicated the idea, it validates that Devkit solves a real problem for developers.
Why Devkit Is Still the Best Developer Tools Directory
A clone can copy the surface, but not:
✅ The vision – Built to solve my own pain points as a developer
✅ The iteration – Continuously refined based on real user feedback
✅ The curation – Every tool is handpicked for usefulness, not just trends
✅ The community – A growing hub for developers, by developers
What’s Next for Devkit?
Instead of worrying about competition, I’m doubling down on what makes Devkit unique:
- Faster, smoother UX – Optimizing performance and navigation
- Better tool discovery – Improved search and categories
- More integrations – APIs, browser extensions? Let me know!
- Community-driven growth – Your feedback shapes the roadmap
Let’s Build Together
Want to collaborate or feature your tool on Devkit? Shoot me a DM: michael@devkit.website.
To the team behind the “inspiration”: Thanks for the fuel. Back to building. 🚀
P.S. Devkit remains 100% free for now. If you find it useful, support the project ☕️ (or just share it with a dev friend!).
