I'm definitely an analog notetaker as well. I believe studies have shown that the extra effort of forming each character, rather than tap a key, helps people remember the information better.
These are good thoughts. I've been working on my email course How to Get the Most From Technical Books, and I only barely talked about notetaking in my current version.
