I totally see where you are heading with your idea. That kind of gameplay mechanic combine with the atmosphere can really lead up to some crazy theories that people on the internet will made up. Look at Five Nights at Freddy's that game blow up the internet with all the little things it add up to compose a mysterious story line of horror, with just a guy giving you instructions through cassette tapes, a bunch of secret mini games and assets that at the end build up a great saga that a lot of people enjoy. I myself would love to create videogames that way because you can see how much you can do with so little. Also my personal favorite UNDERTALE, I know that one goes really straight up for the story using text but the gameplay is simple, clever and enjoyble. Sorry for the long wikipedia xD this kind of topics ring the bell.

Absolutely. And I love it. :D

You're right that you really don't need much to make an amazing game. Five Nights at Freddy's and Undertale are also great examples. Undertale does use text, but the rest is quite minimalistic. So still a great solution without fancy and expensive assets. Although the soundtrack is fancy. ;)

And no worries about the "long" post. It's always a pleasure to talk to fellow gamers and fellow indie game devs.
