Ahrefs found that top-ranking pages now get 58% fewer clicks when an AI Overview shows up.
Your answer is still being read.
It's just being read inside Google, ChatGPT and Perplexity, not on your blog.
So the goal isn't only to rank anymore.
It's to be the source the answer is built from.
Three checks I'd run on any blog this week:
Answer the question in the first paragraph.
AI systems pull clear, direct answers. If yours is buried in paragraph six, someone else gets quoted.Make the structure obvious.
One H2 per sub-question. Short sections. A meta description that says exactly what the page answers.Make sure AI crawlers can actually reach you.
Check that your robots.txt isn't blocking bots like GPTBot or PerplexityBot. It's an easy one to miss.
Good SEO still matters.
But "good enough for Google" now has to mean "clear enough for an AI to cite."
That's why we built GEO suggestions right into the ContioReach editor, so writers catch these while they write, not after they publish.
What's one thing you've changed in your content since AI Overviews showed up?
