UAE VAT Group Exit Adjustments 2026: FTA Directive on Tax Transactions No. 2 Explained

The UAE Federal Tax Authority issued Directive on Tax Transactions No. 2 of 2026, effective 1 August 2026, clarifying exactly who is liable for VAT output and input tax adjustments after a company exits a Tax Group.

Under the Directive, once a member exits a UAE VAT Tax Group and continues as a standalone VAT-registered taxable person, any adjustment relating to a supply or expense originally declared through the group's VAT return must now be reported on the exiting member's own return, not the group's.

This affects any business currently restructuring, selling a subsidiary, changing ownership, or reorganising a UAE Tax Group.
