That distinction is small on paper and huge in practice.
A single ๐ถ๐ณ gives you a fork in the road - one path or the other, never both. Python checks the condition, takes the matching path, and whatever comes after the block always runs regardless.
๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ณ extends this - Python checks conditions top to bottom and stops at the first true one. Order matters more than most beginners expect. The moment you put the least specific condition first, every input hits it and the rest of the chain never runs.

The bank loan example captures it cleanly: first, do you have an account? If no, stop - there's nothing more to check. If yes, how long have you been a customer? If less than 6 months, stop - tenure matters. If yes, what's your salary? Only then does the loan decision happen.
Three levels of nesting. Each inner question only makes sense after the outer one passed. That's not just Python - that's how any system that gatekeeps access should think.
The pattern shows up everywhere once you recognize it: login flows, checkout validation, eligibility checks, access control. The second question depends on the first answer. That dependency is exactly what nested if expresses.
One rule worth keeping early: if your nested if goes beyond three levels deep, it's usually a signal to restructure - either with and/or to combine conditions, or by breaking the logic into functions.
