Enhancing Document prints in VBCS: Secure Embedded Print Functionality
Introduction
In many enterprise applications, printing documents is still a critical business requirement. Whether it is employee records, approval forms, purchase orders, certificates, or contractual documents, organizations need a controlled and secure way to generate printouts directly from their applications.
Recently, our team successfully implemented a Secure Embedded Print Solution in Oracle Visual Builder Cloud Service (VBCS) that allows users to print documents directly from the application.
This project addressed common challenges such as document authenticity, and inconsistent print formats.
Our Solution
We designed and implemented a Secure Embedded Print Framework within Oracle VBCS that enables users to generate print-ready documents directly from the application interface.
Hands-on
The below is references of how we Embedded Print Framework within Oracle VBCS page.
- Create page with Business Objects, Here I explicitly call the table twice
- Added Button & named as "Print", create event against it & written a one line code
- We enabled Print Button ♥
- Let check it's outcome
Observation:
It prints with Application headers & footer.
It prints the same two tables in a one page, we need separately.
FYR
Handle Above issue
- With help of app.css we added logic to remove the unnecessary headers & footer , table breaks by adding ID(T2)
FYR
Result
we successfully added the print functionality in the VBCS page
Bonus Point
you can try the landscape option of print by writing in the app.css
Conclusion
Sometimes the most effective solution is also the simplest. Using Oracle VBCS page layouts and the browser's built-in window.print() function, we created an efficient print capability that produces both Employee and Employee Copy sections from the same dataset without requiring custom reporting or PDF-generation frameworks.
This solution demonstrates how Oracle VBCS can quickly address common business requirements with minimal code while maintaining a smooth user experience.
Technologies Used:
Oracle VBCS, Oracle JET, JavaScript Action Chains, Service Data Providers (SDP), Browser Native Printing.
