What I Built
I built WeatherLY-TouchGrass, a weather-focused project inspired by the idea of encouraging people to spend more time outdoors.
The goal is to make weather information useful for planning everyday outdoor activities.

React + TypeScript + Vite
This template provides a minimal setup to get React working in Vite with HMR and some Oxlint rules.
Currently, two official plugins are available:
- @vitejs/plugin-react uses Oxc
- @vitejs/plugin-react-swc uses SWC
React Compiler
The React Compiler is not enabled on this template because of its impact on dev & build performances. To add it, see this documentation.
Expanding the Oxlint configuration
If you are developing a production application, we recommend enabling type-aware lint rules by installing oxlint-tsgolint and editing .oxlintrc.json:
{
"$schema": "./node_modules/oxlint/configuration_schema.json",
"plugins": ["react", "typescript", "oxc"],
"options": {
"typeAware": true
},
"rules": {
"react/rules-of-hooks": "error",
"react/only-export-components": ["warn", { "allowConstantExport": true }]
}
}
See the Oxlint rules documentation for the full list of rules andβ¦
How I Built It
I used React, TypeScript, and a Python backend to build the application. The project also includes a Google Gemini API dependency.
Why Does Open Innovation Matter?
Open innovation makes it easier for developers to learn from existing tools, share ideas, and build projects that solve real-world problems. I created this project to explore how technology can help people make better decisions about spending time outdoors.
What I Learned
I gained practical experience in building and deploying a web application and organizing a project with a frontend and backend.
What's Next?
I would like to improve the outdoor activity recommendations and explore open-weight AI models for future versions.
