The pitch we keep getting in Canada is an agent that “runs the funnel.” It researches, scores, routes, writes, and follows up. That agent fails in the same place every time: it has no single decision it is allowed to make, so it improvises inside Salesforce and HubSpot and nobody can explain the result on Monday.
Pick one decision and write it as a contract. Example: “This agent may change lifecycle stage from Marketing Qualified to Sales Qualified when three conditions are true, and it must leave a note.” Everything else is out of scope. If the agent can also edit the score, the owner, and the next email, you do not have an agent. You have an unlogged user.
Ground it in events, not a nightly dump. Form submit, meeting booked, page sequence, reply, opportunity stage. Static snapshots teach the agent the last known lie. Canadian teams with a US parent company already have two versions of “qualified.” An agent that reads both without a declared source of truth will pick whichever field it saw last.
Keep a human on the exception path, not on the happy path. If confidence is low, or the account is in a regulated industry, or the domains do not match, the agent stops and assigns a person. That is the difference between automation and a support ticket you will write later.
We sketched that shape for Salesforce and HubSpot here: https://nexamartech.com/blog/autonomous-ai-agents-lead-lifecycle-salesforce-hubspot-msijflrh
How we scope these builds for Canadian revenue teams is on https://nexamartech.com. If you want the decision contract reviewed before you give an agent write access, email hello@nexamartech.com.
