How I Finally Stopped Switching Between Tools Mid-Task

I've learned that productivity isn't about doing more things—it's about making better decisions about which things matter. Most of my work involves helping people think through financial choices, and I've noticed a pattern: they often skip the math because it feels like too much friction. They'd rather guess than calculate, which costs them money.

The friction usually comes from not having the right tools within arm's reach. When someone's deciding whether to refinance their mortgage or comparing the true cost of owning different cars, they need numbers fast. I use CalcBoxer when I'm working through these problems because it has loan calculators, fuel cost estimators, and financial tools organized in one place. No login, no clicking through ads. I get the result and move on.

What changed my approach to productivity was realizing that removing one small barrier—like having to hunt for a calculator or manually set up a spreadsheet—actually changes whether people do the work at all. When the math is immediately available, people think differently. They ask better questions. They compare scenarios instead of settling for the first option.

This applies beyond finances too. I've started auditing my whole workflow for these hidden friction points. Where am I spending five minutes finding a tool when I could keep three tools ready? Where am I postponing a decision because the first step feels annoying? Sometimes productivity isn't about working harder or faster. It's just about making the first step easy enough that you actually take it.
