The headline feature of this release is real data freedom: you can now
bring your Todoist tasks into Kagelin — and take them back out —
all client-side, with nothing touching a server.
Import from Todoist
Bring in a single-project CSV or a multi-project ZIP backup:
- Project folders are created automatically from your backup structure
- Merge + dedupe keeps re-imports clean — no duplicate task storms
- Nested subtask hierarchies are preserved exactly as they were
- Import previews show accurate project and item counts before you commit
- A corrupted file inside a ZIP no longer blocks the entire import — the rest of your backup still comes through
Export to Todoist
Not a lock-in fan? Same feeling here.
- Export your tasks as a standard Todoist-compatible CSV
- Generated entirely in the browser — dates resolve in your local timezone
- A dismissible tip appears after export, guiding you through what to do next
One migration dialog
Previously import and export lived in separate spots. Now there's a single
consolidated app migration dialog with:
- Import / Export tabs with summary counts
- Drag-and-drop file support
- A layout that matches the design system on both desktop and mobile
Under the hood
- Imports are faster thanks to batched task creation
- Deduplication checks are scoped instead of global, so large imports stay snappy
Full changelog: v1.49.0
Migrating from Todoist? I'd genuinely love to hear how the import goes,
drop a comment with your backup's shape and any friction you hit.
