Stackoverflow won't help me with this

I asked a simple question on stackoverflow but some moderator closed it because "We don’t allow questions seeking recommendations for books, tools, software libraries, and more. Edit the question so it can be answered with facts and citations"

How is this asking for recommendations? 😠

It seems to me that it can be answer with facts- is there something at all or not. And if not then maybe "why"?

From now on I think I'll only use stackoverflow in readonly mode.

Did I really broke the guidelines with this?

If you check out the rules about "What topics can I ask about here?" you'll find:

  • Some questions that fit into one of the categories listed above may be closed by the community because they aren't generally a good fit here or need additional information:
    • "Questions asking us to recommend or find a book, tool, software library, tutorial or other off-site resource are off-topic for Stack Overflow as they tend to attract opinionated answers and spam. Instead, describe the problem and what has been done so far to solve it."

IMO, the moderator did a poor job explaining the reason for closing the question.

I also agree with you that the question can be answered with facts!

But, back to your question. By quickly searching for "tcl/tk nodejs" I was able to find this:

I hope it helps.

Well, the two possible factual answers are:

  1. Yes, there are.
  2. No, there aren't. Why aren't there? Because no one has created one.

Instead of getting mad at SO for locking your question, you should take this as an opportunity to improve your question asking skills. For one, you say you couldn't find anything, but you don't list any of the places you looked.

More over, from the perspective of SO, the very first result of googling your keywords is a library that presumably does what you are looking for, so it brings into question how hard you actually looked and makes it seem like you are expecting someone else to do your leg work for you.

Locking this question was the right decision as the factual answers don't have any real value and a useful answer could be represented with a Let Me Google That For You link.

They close all similar questions, search for best JavaScript engine for dotnet and they have closed the question.

I think those are valid questions but somehow some old man decided that they are not and they are following it religiously.

I stopped contributing to stack overflow lately for the similar reasons.
