Packing for the Port: How Mumbai Units Choose Wrapping and Sealing Machines

Mumbai packs for a ship. Even goods sold inside India are often packed to the standard set by everything that leaves through JNPT: pallets that survive handling, wrapping that survives humidity, and paperwork that survives an inspection.

The pallet is the unit

For most export and pharma units around Mumbai, the thing being shipped is not the carton but the pallet. That makes a pallet stretch wrapping machine the first purchase, followed by a carton sealer for consistent tape lines and a strapping machine to hold mixed loads together.

Humidity changes the spec

Coastal air softens corrugated board and loosens poorly applied tape. Practical fixes:

  • Use a pre-stretch wrapper so film tension stays even on every layer
  • Seal cartons top and bottom on a machine instead of by hand
  • Add PP strapping on heavy or export cartons

Pharma and chemical lines

These lines need repeatable, documented packing. A machine gives the same seal on carton one and carton one thousand, which is easier to audit than manual work.

Distance and spares

Buying from another state is fine if the supplier keeps spares in stock and ships them by courier. Ask about AMC and the parts worth keeping on your own shelf.
