Gurugram has two very different packing worlds side by side: auto component plants that follow OEM packing standards, and 3PL warehouses that deal with huge variety every day.
Auto components: the returnable bin problem
Many parts move in returnable bins and pallets that come back to the plant. Packing here is about securing loads, not decorating boxes. A strapping machine and a stretch wrapper do most of the work, with pallet trucks moving the loads.
Warehouses and 3PL: volume against variety
A fulfilment centre may pack hundreds of carton sizes. Useful equipment:
- Semi-automatic carton sealers for steady lines
- Random-size carton sealers when box sizes keep changing
- Stretch wrappers for outbound pallets
Specifying against an OEM standard
If your customer gives a packing spec (strap width, wrap layers, label position), share it with the machine supplier before ordering so the machine matches it.
Running cost
Film and strap are recurring costs. A pre-stretch wrapper and the right strap grade can reduce material use over a year.
