How Much Does Pest Control Cost in India?

 `

My colleague Vivek spent forty minutes on the phone last month getting quotes for cockroach treatment in his 2BHK. First company said ₹800. Second said ₹2,500. Third said ₹1,200. Fourth — a local guy someone recommended on the building WhatsApp group — said ₹600 and "guaranteed results."

He called me genuinely confused. Same flat. Same problem. Four completely different numbers. Which one was right?

The honest answer is — none of them are wrong, necessarily. And that's exactly the problem with pest control pricing in India. It varies so much, across so many factors, that a quote alone tells you almost nothing without context. The ₹600 man and the ₹2,500 company might both be legitimate. Or one of them might be cutting corners in ways that only show up six weeks later when the cockroaches are back.

So let's go through this properly. What pest control actually costs in India, what drives the differences, what you're paying for at different price points, and how to tell a reasonable quote from one that should make you ask more questions.

The Honest Price Ranges — What to Actually Expect

Pest control pricing in India depends on four things: the type of pest, the size of the home, the city you're in, and the company doing the work. Here are realistic ranges based on what the market currently looks like across north and central India.

General pest control — cockroaches, ants, silverfish:

1BHK — ₹700 to ₹1,500. 2BHK — ₹1,000 to ₹2,500. 3BHK — ₹1,500 to ₹3,500. Independent house — ₹2,500 to ₹6,000 depending on size.

These ranges cover a standard spray-and-gel treatment using registered chemicals, done by a trained technician. The lower end of these ranges usually means a local operator with lower overheads — not necessarily lower quality, but you need to ask more questions. The higher end usually means a company with branded products, trained staff, and a follow-up policy if the treatment doesn't hold.

Termite treatment:

This is more expensive because it's more involved. A full soil treatment for a 2BHK flat — drilling around the foundation, injecting termiticide — typically costs ₹3,000 to ₹8,000. For an independent house the number climbs significantly based on the perimeter that needs to be treated. Wood treatment for specific furniture or structural elements is quoted separately. Anti-termite treatment during new construction is cheaper — ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 for a standard home — because it's done before walls are closed.

Bed bug treatment:

₹1,500 to ₹4,000 for a single room. The wide range reflects method — spray treatment is cheaper, heat treatment is significantly more expensive but more effective for severe infestations. A follow-up visit — which bed bug treatment specifically requires — is sometimes included and sometimes charged separately. Always ask before confirming.

Rodent control:

₹1,200 to ₹3,500 for a standard flat. This typically covers baiting, trapping setup, and an inspection of entry points. Rodent proofing — physically sealing identified gaps — is sometimes charged additionally and sometimes included. Clarify this upfront.

Mosquito treatment — fogging and larvicide:

₹800 to ₹2,000 for a standard flat. This is usually an add-on to a general treatment package rather than a standalone visit, and buying it that way is almost always cheaper than booking it separately.

Why the Same Job Costs Such Different Amounts

This is what Vivek couldn't figure out. Four quotes for the same cockroach problem in the same size flat — four different numbers. Here's what's actually behind that.

The chemical being used. This is the biggest factor most people never ask about. Registered, branded pesticide products that have gone through Central Insecticides Board of India certification cost more than unbranded or locally sourced chemicals of uncertain composition. A company using a certified pyrethroid product is paying more for that product than one using whatever is cheapest from a local supplier. That cost difference shows up in the quote. The ₹600 cockroach treatment almost certainly uses cheaper, lower-quality chemical that breaks down faster — which is why you're calling again in six weeks.

Whether a follow-up visit is included. Some companies build a follow-up visit into the base price. Others treat it as an additional charge. A ₹2,500 quote that includes a follow-up in 30 days is often better value than a ₹1,200 quote where the follow-up costs ₹800 extra. Calculate the total, not just the first visit.

Whether they do a proper inspection first. A technician who walks in, sprays for 20 minutes, and leaves has done the minimum. A technician who spends 10 to 15 minutes inspecting — checking drain lines, cabinet interiors, behind appliances, skirting boards — before applying any chemical will do a better job and the treatment will last longer. That inspection time has a cost. It's reflected in the quote.

The city and locality. Pest control costs more in metros than in smaller cities. A 2BHK treatment in Gurgaon costs more than the same job in Rewari or Bhiwani. This is not a quality difference — it reflects operational costs, technician salaries, and local market rates. Expecting Gurgaon pricing in a Tier 3 city means either overpaying or getting a company from outside that charges travel on top.

Annual contract vs one-time visit. Per-visit cost is always lower on an annual contract than a series of individual bookings. A quarterly contract for general pest control — four visits per year — typically costs 20 to 30 percent less per visit than four separate one-time bookings. If you're going to need treatment more than once — and most homes do — the contract math works in your favour.

What the Cheapest Quote Is Usually Leaving Out

This is the part worth paying attention to.

A very low quote — significantly below the ranges above — is usually low for one or more of these reasons. Unregistered chemical. No follow-up included. Minimal treatment time — spray the visible surfaces and leave. No inspection before treatment. No trained technician — just someone with a spray pump and a basic familiarity with pest control products.

None of these things are visible when the technician shows up. They all show up six weeks later when the problem returns and the company is unreachable or has no re-treatment policy.

The single most useful question before accepting any quote: what happens if the problem comes back within 30 days? A company with confidence in their work will have a clear answer. A company hoping you don't ask will not.

What the Most Expensive Quote Is Sometimes Selling You

In the other direction — a very high quote from a large national brand is not automatically better treatment. Sometimes what you're paying for is marketing, branded packaging, and a call centre rather than a meaningfully superior product or technician.

The best pest control in India is often done by mid-size regional companies that know local pest behaviour, use quality registered products, have trained technicians who've worked the same areas for years, and have real accountability because their business depends on local reputation. These companies often quote in the middle of the range — not the cheapest, not the most expensive — and deliver consistently good results.

Ask how long the company has operated in your city. Ask who specifically is coming to do the treatment. Ask if the same technician will come for the follow-up. These questions tell you more about quality than the brand name on the invoice.

How to Compare Quotes Properly

When you get multiple quotes — which you should — compare them on these specific points, not just the number.

What chemical is being used and is it CIB registered? How long will the treatment take? Is a follow-up included and after how many days? What is the re-treatment policy if the problem returns? Does the price include an inspection before treatment or just the treatment itself?

A quote that answers all of these clearly and confidently is more valuable than a lower number with vague answers. Vivek eventually went with the ₹1,800 company — not the cheapest, not the most expensive — after asking these questions. The ₹600 man couldn't tell him what chemical he used. The ₹2,500 company had no re-treatment policy. The ₹1,800 company included a follow-up at 21 days and named the specific registered product they'd use.

Three months later, no cockroaches. He sends me updates about this more often than necessary.

Pricing in Smaller Haryana Cities — What's Realistic

For families in smaller Haryana cities where the pest control market is less organised than metros, pricing and quality can be harder to gauge. There are fewer companies, less online presence, and more reliance on word of mouth.

In cities like Rewari and Bhiwani where residential pest pressure is real — particularly termite and rodent activity in older constructions and post-monsoon cockroach problems — getting a company with a proper track record matters more than finding the cheapest available option. Pest control in Rewari and pest control in Bhiwani are both areas where the right company makes a significant difference to whether the treatment actually holds — or whether you're calling again in six weeks and paying twice.

For a proper inspection and quote that covers what the home actually needs rather than a generic package, professional pest control from PestEnd covers these areas with trained teams and registered products — and can explain exactly what they're using and why before the treatment starts.

The Real Cost of Not Doing It

People focus on the cost of pest control. Rarely on the cost of not doing it.

A termite infestation left untreated for two years — replacing damaged furniture, door frames, and flooring — can cost ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakh or more depending on what's affected. A rat problem that chews through electrical wiring creates a repair and fire risk that makes pest control costs look very small. Recurring cockroach infestations in a kitchen affect food safety and family health in ways that are hard to put a number on.

According to the US Environmental Protection Agency's guidance on pest control costs, consistent preventive pest management is significantly more cost-effective over time than repeated reactive treatment of established infestations — because the cost of prevention is always less than the cost of the damage and remediation that follows neglect.

₹1,500 every three months is ₹6,000 a year. One serious termite repair job costs more than a decade of that preventive spend.

The maths are not complicated. The decision usually is.
