NotebookLM in 2026: Source-Grounded Research and Audio Overviews
If you drown in docs, NotebookLM is worth a look: it answers only from the sources you upload and cites them. Quick rundown.
What it does
- Source-grounded answers - responses only from your uploads, with citations
- Audio Overview - your sources as a two-host podcast; in 2026 you can join by voice
- Studio panel - one-click summaries, timelines, quizzes
- 50+ languages
How to use
Go to notebooklm.google.com, create a notebook, upload PDFs/docs/links/YouTube, then ask questions or generate an Audio Overview in Studio.
Where it fits (and doesn't)
Great for study, docs review, and 'what do my sources actually say' - and free with a Google account (NotebookLM Plus raises limits). It won't do live web search, so pair it with a tool like Perplexity for that. And it's only as good as the sources you feed it.
