Vibe Coding with Open Source

If you believe LinkedIn and Facebook, we're all obsolete soon, and will be replaced by "citizens" doing "vibe coding", while being 1,000 times more productive than Richard Stallman and Linus Torvalds combined. However, these claims are all originating from people having stakes in "vibe coding". I probably don't need to mention the usual suspects, but, errhm ...

  • Cursor
  • Manus
  • Lovable
  • [put in your favourite 'vibe coding' platform here]

Realising I couldn't be any worse than these guys, I started out creating our own vibe coding platform. I started Thursday morning, and I was done Friday afternoon, and I still can't for the love of my life understand why the above companies are worth billions of dollars. Watch the following video and please try to fill me in on what I'm missing here ...

Vibe Coding with Magic

With Magic you can ...

  • Creating, modifying, and deleting backend modules and files
  • Generating and editing Hyperlambda code for APIs and logic
  • Managing databases (creating, deleting, schema inspection, running SQL)
  • Designing and implementing RESTful endpoints
  • Managing users, roles, and permissions
  • Handling tasks, scheduling, and automation
  • Working with machine learning types and RAG data
  • Sending emails and generating random strings
  • Installing plugins and extending backend functionality

However, fundamentally, it's just "a simple AI agent" with functions. This allows us to prompt engineer the machine learning type, such that it can modify the runtime it's actually running on itself. Resulting in that once the AI is done generating your app, it's literally in production.

No need for Git, no pipelines, no waiting 50 minutes for GitHub to run its workflows, and only 5% of the code the other vibe coding platforms generates - And I created it in 48 hours.

What am I missing here? Are all "vibe coding platforms" simply VC investment scams? Are they shiny one-day apps, nobody will even remember a year from now?

I've got no idea, but if their evaluations are based upon features, Magic Cloud should be worth about 30 trillion dollars, considering it can do 1,000 times more than most other platforms. In fact, the only thing it cannot do, is to create frontend. But hey, we've got to leave some for the humans, right ...?

Psst, download it here, or check out its documentation.
