Effective Note-Taking Techniques for College Lectures

I still remember my first year of college, sitting in a lecture hall, trying to absorb everything the professor was saying 🤯. I was taking notes like crazy, but when I looked back at them later, they didn't make much sense.

It turned out, I was focusing too much on writing down every single word, instead of understanding the concepts. This led to a huge impact on my productivity and balance - I was spending hours reviewing my notes, trying to make sense of them.

I realized that I needed to change my approach, so I started using a combination of digital tools like OneNote and analog methods like mind mapping. This helped me to create memories of the lectures that actually stuck, and I was able to recall the information much more easily.

Here are a few tips that helped me:
take notes in your own words,
review your notes within 24 hours,
and use headings and subheadings to organize your notes.
I also started using a planner to keep track of my assignments and deadlines, which helped me to stay on top of my work.

Looking back, I wish I had learned these techniques earlier, as it would have had a huge impact on my college experience.
One takeaway from my experience is that effective note-taking is key to achieving a good balance between academics and college life.

What's your favorite note-taking technique - do you prefer digital or analog methods?
