I’m excited to introduce newsy
— a newsletter service for your static site, powered by GitHub Issues.
If you’re reading this, you probably know the projects that inspired it: Utterances , Giscus , and Gitalk. These projects completely reimagined commenting on static sites by using GitHub Issues as a backend. No database, no CMS, no vendor lock-in — just your repo and a little embed script.
Newsy takes that same idea and applies it to newsletters.
Think about it. Instead of signing up for a traditional email marketing service, maintaining a separate mailing list, or paying monthly for a newsletter platform you barely use, your newsletter can simply live alongside your code in a GitHub repository.
That’s the core idea behind Newsy: democratizing newsletter services.
We wanted to strip away the overhead of traditional platforms — the dashboards, the pricing tiers, the data you don’t own — while keeping everything close to the tools you already use and love.
Your blog is static. Your comments are GitHub Issues. Why shouldn’t your newsletter be too?
