Best way to stay updated...

Hi guys, how do you coup with being updated when for any reason you need to stop coding for a while?
since I started codig I have had to retire temporarily from computers many times, but everytime I return I find it dificult to catch up with everything evolving so fast.
I would like to read your tips and personal experiences regarding this.
