What's AWS ASGs?

Ever wondered why Railways runs special trains during festival times and stops after the festive season is over? Yes, you probably have figured it right. During the Festive season, the number pf passengers increases and cannot be accommodated in existing trains and hence they run special trains. Similarly, as soon as the festival season is gone, the number of passengers decreases which may lead to partial to almost no bookings in some trains leading to the underutilization of trains but still it will incur the cost of running them and that's why they are stopped.

The same is the concept behind ASGs (Auto Scaling Groups). We may not have the same request all the time in a day. Sometimes, it may be touching the skies, and some other times it will sink below the sea. It may happen our instances remain underutilized most of the time or may suffer overutilization at peak times resulting in failure and downtime. So, using the auto scaling group automatically scales the infrastructure as per the requirements by increasing and decreasing the number of instances required as per requests.

That's a short piece of information about auto-scaling groups.
