ProvenPin is a library of tested code recipes for AI coding models. Each recipe pins exact package versions, runs its own tests in a clean environment, and carries a receipt showing when it last passed. The goal is to help free and cheap models write code that actually runs. It is served over a free MCP server, no API key, no signup.
Here is what shipped this week (Oct 16 to 22).
152 new recipes
The library went from 403 recipes last Thursday to 555 today, per the live health endpoint. That is 72 new TypeScript recipes and 80 new Python ones. Every one of the 555 has a passing receipt.

Search that admits when it has nothing
Search now ranks by the libraries your query names and gives less weight to generic words. If the best match only covers a small part of what you asked for, it now says there is no match instead of handing back something loosely related. A model that gets a wrong recipe is worse off than one that gets none.
Clearer tool descriptions
The MCP tool descriptions now tell the model when to call each tool: when it needs versions, when it is planning an upgrade, and to fetch the full recipe after a search.
OpenCode setup
The README install section now has an OpenCode config, with a note on where opencode.json goes, plus a one click install link for Cursor.
Fixes
- npm 10.9.4 was crashing on installs that pin vitest 5.0.4 (
Cannot read properties of null (reading 'edgesOut')). 8 recipes moved to vitest 5.0.5 and all install and pass again (PR #12). - Dropped stub
@typespins that are no longer needed and added notes where an upstream package is deprecated (PR #13). - Pull requests are now tested before they merge.
