Has anyone tried Memtrace.io for understanding a large or unfamiliar codebase?
I’ve been exploring Memtrace recently, especially the idea of using it to understand how different parts of a codebase connect rather than having an AI tool immediately generate or change code.
One problem I keep running into with larger projects is that it can take a while to answer simple questions like:
- What parts of the codebase are actually connected?
- What could be affected if I change something?
- How do I get an overview of a project I didn’t build myself?
Memtrace seems to approach this with things like code maps, graphs, communities, and process views.
I’m curious if anyone here has actually tried Memtrace for this kind of workflow. Did it make navigating or understanding an unfamiliar repository easier?
Also interested in hearing about similar tools you use for codebase understanding, especially tools focused more on understanding and context than generating code.
