I just read your article and it was really helpful. I wanted to start freelancing 2 and a half years ago but doubt the idea of it ever bring in income. Now looking back I say time flies and it's time to start than wait.

What about looking for clients online?
I don't recommend it because it's hard to compete on anything except for price, which is a really bad way to get started. When you meet people in-person, you can develop a rapport and even discover gigs that aren't advertised. Those two factors make it a lot easier to compete.
