One MCP Connection, 153 Tools: Counted, Connected, and Checked

Every MCP roundup answers "which server has the most tools?" with vibes. Tool counts are checkable in about a minute, so here is the counting method first, then what it returns for the connection I run, then how to connect it to Claude Code, Cursor, and VS Code with the same URL.

Count tools/list, not the marketing page

An MCP server publishes its own catalog. Send tools/list to the endpoint and count what comes back. Do it twice: once plain, once with the full-catalog flag if the server has one, because many servers show a default surface and keep the rest one flag away. A count you did not pull from the endpoint yourself is a claim, not a measurement.

For Zambo at https://zambo.dev/mcp, counted live from the endpoint's own list on October 23, 2026: 153 tools in the full catalog, 35 on the default surface at ?full=true for the rest. One connection, one API key optional, and every call returns a verifiable receipt at a public URL.

The same URL in three clients

Claude Code, in a terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http zambo https://zambo.dev/mcp
Enter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode

Cursor, in ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "zambo": { "url": "https://zambo.dev/mcp" }
  }
}
Enter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode

VS Code takes the same server entry in its MCP config. One remote endpoint means nothing to install per machine and nothing to keep in sync: the catalog your agent sees is the catalog the endpoint serves that day.

Proof the connection is live

Ask the agent for something it cannot know from training data, like the current BTC price. The reply should come back with a receipt link. Two real ones from October 23, 2026, both checkable by anyone with no account:

Open one and recheck it at https://zambo.dev/verify/. A verifiable receipt proves the saved result was not changed since it was saved. It does not prove the price was right, and no receipt can. What it gives you is a record of exactly what your agent saw, which is the thing you need when a job is disputed later.

What it costs to start

Nothing, and no account. The free tier is 20 free calls per day; when a job needs more, a $0.99 Day Pass lifts the limits on that connection for 24 hours. The full question set this post answers, with the per-client walkthroughs, lives on the canonical page: Which MCP server has the most tools?
