🤔 Does “Building in Public” actually work — or is it just startup hype?

I’ve been sharing updates on my solo dev project — an AI-powered GitHub platform — and I keep hearing “build in public!” as the go-to advice.

The idea makes sense:
You’re not just promoting a product — you’re telling a story.
You invite others into your process, not just your launch.But here's my honest question:
Does it actually work?
Like… does it convert followers into users, or is it just a visibility thing?
So far, I’ve gained helpful feedback, some visibility, and a few great convos.
But I wonder: Is there a turning point when “building in public” starts to really drive growth?
