I've rented in a few different parts of Toronto, and every time I go to book a cleaner I get the same run-around: vague hourly rates, surprise add-ons, and quotes that somehow double once someone shows up. Here's what I've learned about getting a fair price, neighbourhood by neighbourhood.
Insist on flat-rate
Hourly pricing punishes you for having a slightly bigger or messier place. Flat-rate means you know the total up front. As a rough guide across Toronto: regular cleans start around $129, deep cleans from about $239, and move-in/move-out cleans from about $286 — driven by the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, not your postal code.
It's the same price whether you're east or west
People assume a trendy area costs more. It doesn't — a two-bed in Leslieville or Riverdale should cost the same as the same-size unit in Liberty Village or Parkdale. If a company quotes more just because of the neighbourhood, walk.
Time your move-out clean right
If you're leaving a rental, book the move-out clean for after the movers are gone and the place is empty — you'll get a better result and often a better price. Same goes for a move-in clean before your furniture lands, whether that's a condo near Yorkville or a house out in The Beaches.
The checklist that saves you money
- Get the quote flat, in writing, before booking
- Confirm what's included (oven, fridge, baseboards, interior windows)
- Ask if it's bonded and insured
- Book deep-clean-first, then a lighter regular schedule
Do that and you'll stop overpaying for something that should be simple.
