Umemura Farm Website – Devlog #17: Building the Farm Stay Page

Today's Focus: Crafting the Farm Stay Page

Unlike the Contact page, which had a clear form-based structure, the Farm Stay page required more creativity and planning before jumping into the build. I started by developing a framework and writing an initial catchphrase, following the approach used for the homepage.

This provided enough direction to begin layout work and decide how to visually and verbally communicate the unique experience of staying in the countryside.

Design Challenge: Conveying Inconvenience as a Feature

One major hurdle today was figuring out how to talk about aspects that could be perceived as negative, such as the lack of nearby convenience stores or public transport. In rural areas, such “inconveniences” are simply part of daily life but for visitors used to urban convenience, the contrast could be jarring.

Rather than hiding or minimizing these truths, I chose to reframe them thoughtfully. The goal is not to mislead, but to help the audience appreciate:

“What may seem like a lack of convenience is actually part of the charm.”

These rural realities are key features of the farm stay experience, not flaws. The slower pace, quiet nights, and immersive nature are what make the stay special. Still, the wording needs more polish, so I’ll revisit this part with fresh eyes soon.

Tomorrow's Plan

I'll continue working on the Farm Stay page with the following goals:

  • CSS adjustments for spacing and typography
  • Photo layout to better illustrate the seasonal charm
  • Global visual review to ensure the section integrates cleanly into the rest of the site

The Farm Stay page is shaping up to be one of the most emotionally resonant parts of the LP, it deserves the extra care.
