Apparently there was some HN thread on this here, someone found that you can see his profile on the web archive link
Based on comments there it seems like this username restriction wasn't a thing back in the day so it could be that this was just a random account haha
I still just cold-messaged Scott anyway. We'll see if he responds. I'm doubtful that he will.
