What you need to know Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei published an essay titled “We Must Pace the Frontier” on 12 September 2026, running to roughly 3,800 words on his personal site, darioamodei.com. It sets out three steps: embedded third-party evaluators inside labs, then coordinated safety standards among labs in democratic countries, then eventual global coordination including authoritarian governments. Only step one is a commitment, and only from one company. Anthropic is unilaterally giving third-party evaluators permanent, employee-level access. Steps two and three are proposals.
