How I Built a Responsive React.js Portfolio Website

Building a personal portfolio is one of the best ways for a web developer to showcase their skills, projects, and experience. I recently built a responsive portfolio website using React.js and modern frontend technologies.

Why I Chose React.js

I chose React.js because it makes it easier to build reusable and interactive user interfaces. It also allows me to organize the portfolio into separate components such as the navbar, about section, skills, projects, and contact section.

I chose React.js because it makes it easier to build reusable and interactive user interfaces. It also allows me to organize the portfolio into separate components such as the navbar, about section, skills, projects, and contact section.

Technologies I Used

For this project, I used:

  • React.js
  • JavaScript
  • Tailwind CSS
  • Vite
  • Node.js
  • Supabase

Tailwind CSS helped me create a responsive and modern interface without writing large amounts of custom CSS.

Building the Portfolio

I divided the website into different sections:

  • Home
  • About
  • Skills
  • Projects
  • Contact

The goal was to keep the interface simple while making it easy for visitors to understand my skills and explore my projects.

Making the Website Responsive

A portfolio should work properly on different screen sizes. I used responsive Tailwind CSS classes to make the website adapt to desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

I also added a mobile navigation menu so that visitors can easily navigate the website from smaller screens.

SEO Optimization

**

After building the website, I worked on basic SEO improvements.

Some of the improvements included:

  • Optimizing the page title
  • Adding a meta description
  • Using descriptive headings
  • Improving image alt text
  • Adding a robots.txt file
  • Creating an XML sitemap
  • Adding a canonical URL
  • Adding Open Graph metadata
  • Adding structured data
  • Connecting the website with Google Search Console

These improvements helped me understand how technical SEO and on-page SEO work on a real website.

My Projects

**

The portfolio also includes some of my development projects, including a real estate website, a travel website, and an e-commerce website.

Each project demonstrates different frontend and full-stack development skills.

Final Result

You can view my portfolio here:

https://personal-portfolo.vercel.app/

The website showcases my work as a React.js and MERN Stack Web Developer and provides information about my skills and projects.

What I Learned

Building this portfolio helped me improve my understanding of React.js, responsive design, SEO, accessibility, and deploying web applications.

More importantly, I learned that a portfolio is not only about visual design. It should also provide useful information, work well on different devices, and be easy for users and search engines to understand.

Conclusion

Building a personal portfolio gave me practical experience in combining frontend development with SEO and accessibility. I plan to continue improving the website as I build more projects and learn new technologies.
