ABCE model genes along with genes related to GA biosynthesis and auxin signalling may play significant roles in male flower development in Jatropha curcas. Flowering plants exhibit extreme reproductive diversity. Jatropha curcas, a woody plant that is promising for biofuel production, is monoecious. Here, two gynoecious Jatropha mutants (bearing only female flowers) were used to identify key genes involved in male flower development. Using comparative transcriptome analysis, we identified 17 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) involved in floral organ development between monoecious plants and the two gynoecious mutants. Among these DEGs, five floral organ identity genes, Jatropha AGAMOUS, PISTILLATA, SEPALLATA 2-1 (JcSEP2-1), JcSEP2-2, and JcSEP3, were downregulated in ch mutant inflorescences; two gibberellin (GA) biosynthesis genes, Jatropha GA REQUIRING 1 and GIBBERELLIN 3-OXIDASE 1, were downregulated in both the ch and g mutants; and two genes involved in the auxin signalling pathway, Jatropha NGATHAr development in Jatropha. This study will contribute to understanding sex differentiation in woody perennial plants.
To (1) examine the communication difficulties nurses experience when providing end-of-life (EOL) care, (2) establish the correlation between communication difficulties across various stakeholders and (3) determine the impact sociodemographic factors has on the communication difficulties experienced.
124/178 (69.7%) nurses from oncology wards of a tertiary hospital were recruited. Sociodemographic survey and three validated subscales Communication with Patient and Family (CPF), Explanation to Family (EF) and Reassessment of Current Treatment and Nursing Care (RCTNC) were used to collect the data. Data were analysed with Independent Samples T test, One-Way Analysis of Variance and Pearson's correlation coefficient.
Mean score was highest for CPF (8.75 ± 2.24) and lowest for RCTNC (6.32 ± 2.26). Positive correlations were found between CPF with EF (r = 0.613, p < 0.001), CPF with RCTNC (r = 0.243, p = 0.007) and EF with RCTNC (r = 0.370, p < 0.001). Age (p = 0.048), years of experience (p = 0.001), religion (p = 0.034) and EOL care training received (p = 0.040) were significant factors for CPF subscale while age (p = 0.011), years of experience (p = 0.001), educational qualification (p = 0.003) and EOL care training received (p = 0.026) were the significant factors for EF subscale.
Nurses experienced more communication difficulties with patients and families than with the healthcare team. When nurses experience communication difficulties with the healthcare team, they also tend to experience communication difficulties with patients and families and when providing explanations to families. Nurses experienced greater communication difficulties when they are younger, are non-graduates, have less years of experience, adopted a religion or did not receive training in EOL care.

Lipase was immobilized on Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer blend by entrapment method. Among different lipases immobilized on a support, Candida cylindracea (CCL) showed excellent activity. Systematic studies were done to optimize the reaction conditions. Bak protein The activation energy was found to be 16.2 kcal/mol for immobilized CCL. Kinetic parameters were calculated, which depicted that propyl benzoate synthesized using immobilized CCL followed the ternary complex model in which propanol inhibits lipase activity at higher concentrations. Recyclability of the catalyst was checked up to four catalytic cycles and 40% retention of activity was observed up to the fourth cycle. Finally, the applicability of developed protocol to synthesize various alkyl benzoates was explored.Although aripiprazole is one of the most used antipsychotics, knowledge about serum concentrations in children and adolescents is scarce and age-specific therapeutic ranges have not been established yet. Data of a routine therapeutic drug monitoring service were analyzed in order to evaluate the relationship between dose and serum concentration of aripiprazole in children and adolescents. The study also aimed to evaluate whether the therapeutic reference range defined for adults with schizophrenia (100-350 ng/ml) is applicable for minors. Data from 130 patients (aged 7-19 years) treated with aripiprazole for different indications in doses of 2-30 mg/day were evaluated. Patient characteristics, doses, serum concentrations and therapeutic outcome were assessed by standardized measures. A positive mean correlation between body weight-corrected daily dose and aripiprazole concentration was found (rp = 0.59, p less then 0.001) with variation in dose explaining 35% of the variability in serum concentrations. Girls had on average 41% higher dose-corrected concentrations than boys (244.9 versus 173.4 mg/l; p = 0.006). Aripiprazole concentrations did not vary with co-medication (p = 0.22). About 70% of all measured serum concentrations were within the recommended therapeutic range for adults. Using a calculation method in all responding patients with an ICD-10 F2 diagnosis for a rough estimation of a preliminary therapeutic window also demonstrated a similar therapeutic range of aripiprazole in minors (105.9-375.3 ng/ml) than for adults. If confirmed in larger samples and more controlled study designs, these data may contribute to the definition of a therapeutic range of aripiprazole concentrations in children and adolescents.
The 2019 Lung CT Screening Reporting & Data System version 1.1 (Lung-RADS v1.1) introduced volumetric categories for nodule management. The aims of this study were to report the distribution of Lung-RADS v1.1 volumetric categories and to analyse lung cancer (LC) outcomes within 3 years for exploring personalized algorithm for lung cancer screening (LCS).
Subjects from the Multicentric Italian Lung Detection (MILD) trial were retrospectively selected by National Lung Screening Trial (NLST) criteria. Baseline characteristics included selected pre-test metrics and nodule characterization according to the volume-based categories of Lung-RADS v1.1. Nodule volume was obtained by segmentation with dedicated semi-automatic software. Primary outcome was diagnosis of LC, tested by univariate and multivariable models. Secondary outcome was stage of LC. Increased interval algorithms were simulated for testing rate of delayed diagnosis (RDD) and reduction of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) burden.
