Every funnel-builder comparison thread eventually hits the same question: "can I just export my funnels and move?" And the answer, across the entire category, is no. Not from ClickFunnels, not from GoHighLevel, not from Kartra or Systeme.io. Pages get rebuilt in the new editor. Automations get re-created by hand. Only contacts travel cleanly, by CSV.
This isn't an accident. Funnel platforms store pages as proprietary component trees tied to their own rendering engines, not as portable HTML. There's no incentive to build an exporter, and no standard to export to. The practical effect is lock-in measured in rebuild-hours: a small funnel is a weekend, a large library is weeks.
That changes how you should think about switching. The interesting question isn't "which platform is best". It's "is my reason for leaving worth the rebuild cost?" Some reasons that survive that test:
- You're paying for a funnel builder plus a CRM plus an email tool plus a scheduler, and one platform would replace all four.
- Your builder can't do something your business now depends on (two-way SMS follow-up, client sub-accounts, offline conversion tracking).
- The bill has outgrown what the funnels produce.
And one that doesn't: "a listicle told me to."
