WHY DO WE NEED FASTAPI ?

Why Everyone is Switching to FastAPI 🚀

Before FastAPI, almost every Python programmer relied on Flask and Django. While they are great frameworks, developers frequently faced two major bottlenecks:

  1. The Concurrency Struggle: Traditional frameworks can struggle to handle thousands of simultaneous connections at once (such as real-time chat apps, AI streaming text, or instant notifications).
  2. Data Vulnerability: Servers could easily crash or throw unhandled errors when a user submitted broken, missing, or malicious data.

Here is why FastAPI has completely changed the game.

🎯 When is it Best (or Mandatory) to Use FastAPI?

  • AI and ML APIs (The Best Choice): If you are building an application that integrates with OpenAI, Anthropic, or local LLMs, FastAPI is highly recommended.
  • Real-Time Data Streaming (Mandatory): If your application needs to stream tokenized text token-by-token (just like ChatGPT), FastAPI handles it natively.
  • High-Performance Microservices: When you need a lightweight service that does one specific job incredibly fast.

🛠️ The Two Pillars of FastAPI

FastAPI achieves its incredible speed and reliability by relying on two main building blocks: Async/Await and Pydantic.

𝘎 1. Async/Await (Concurrency)

  • Without Async: Imagine a restaurant with only one waiter. He takes your order, walks to the kitchen, and stands there waiting until the chef finishes preparing your meal. He won't take orders from any other tables; everyone else just has to wait.
  • With Async: Imagine a restaurant with smart multitasking. The waiter takes your order, delivers it to the kitchen, and immediately walks over to take orders from other tables while your food is cooking.

🛡️ 2. Pydantic (Data Validation)

Think of Pydantic as a strict bouncer standing at the front door of your API. If your endpoint expects an age as a number (age: int), and someone tries to send the word "twenty", Pydantic blocks it automatically. It catches data input errors before your core execution code even runs, saving your server from crashing.
