Public vs Private IP

Public IP is used on the internet. It is visible to the outside world. Every network has at least one public IP.

Private IP is used inside a local network, like home WiFi. Devices like phones and laptops get private IPs.

So public IP connects you to the internet, and private IP connects devices inside your network.
