How I Built My First Developer Profile as a Complete Beginner

๐Ÿš€ Starting from Zero

Just a few days ago, I didn't even have a GitHub account.

Now, I have a profile, a blog, and a goal:

To become a software engineer and move abroad with my family someday.

This is how I got started.

๐Ÿ‘ค Step 1: Choosing My Dev Name

I created a GitHub account under the name sankworks, a combination of my name and the idea that I'm building something. It feels like the first brick of a very long but exciting road.

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Step 2: Making My Profile

I created a repository named sankworks and added a simple README that introduces myself:

  • ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ท Korean civil servant learning to code
  • ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ Studying for my family and future
  • ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ป Dreaming of becoming a developer and building smart homes
  • ๐Ÿ“ซ Contact: sankworks@gmail.com

It felt silly at firstโ€ฆ but writing it down made the dream feel real.

โœ๏ธ Step 3: Joining dev.to

I wanted a place to document my journey โ€” not just code, but the why behind it.

Thatโ€™s why I joined dev.to and wrote my first post:

Why Iโ€™m Learning to Code as a Civil Servant in Korea

๐Ÿ’ญ Why I'm Sharing This

Iโ€™m still a total beginner.

Iโ€™ve only written a basic Python login script so far.

But Iโ€™m learning every day โ€” and maybe this post will inspire someone else out there whoโ€™s also starting late, or starting scared.

If thatโ€™s you: youโ€™re not alone. Letโ€™s keep going. ๐Ÿ’ช
