How I Built My First Developer Profile as a Complete Beginner

πŸš€ Starting from Zero

Just a few days ago, I didn't even have a GitHub account.

Now, I have a profile, a blog, and a goal:

To become a software engineer and move abroad with my family someday.

This is how I got started.

πŸ‘€ Step 1: Choosing My Dev Name

I created a GitHub account under the name sankworks, a combination of my name and the idea that I'm building something. It feels like the first brick of a very long but exciting road.

πŸ—‚οΈ Step 2: Making My Profile

I created a repository named sankworks and added a simple README that introduces myself:

  • πŸ‡°πŸ‡· Korean civil servant learning to code
  • πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦ Studying for my family and future
  • πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» Dreaming of becoming a developer and building smart homes
  • πŸ“« Contact: sankworks@gmail.com

It felt silly at first… but writing it down made the dream feel real.

✍️ Step 3: Joining dev.to

I wanted a place to document my journey β€” not just code, but the why behind it.

That’s why I joined dev.to and wrote my first post:

Why I’m Learning to Code as a Civil Servant in Korea

πŸ’ Why I'm Sharing This

I’m still a total beginner.

I’ve only written a basic Python login script so far.

But I’m learning every day β€” and maybe this post will inspire someone else out there who’s also starting late, or starting scared.

If that’s you: you’re not alone. Let’s keep going. πŸ’ͺ
