π Starting from Zero
Just a few days ago, I didn't even have a GitHub account.
Now, I have a profile, a blog, and a goal:
To become a software engineer and move abroad with my family someday.
This is how I got started.
π€ Step 1: Choosing My Dev Name
I created a GitHub account under the name sankworks, a combination of my name and the idea that I'm building something. It feels like the first brick of a very long but exciting road.
ποΈ Step 2: Making My Profile
I created a repository named sankworks and added a simple README that introduces myself:
- π°π· Korean civil servant learning to code
- π¨βπ©βπ¦ Studying for my family and future
- π§βπ» Dreaming of becoming a developer and building smart homes
- π« Contact: sankworks@gmail.com
It felt silly at first⦠but writing it down made the dream feel real.
βοΈ Step 3: Joining dev.to
I wanted a place to document my journey β not just code, but the why behind it.
Thatβs why I joined dev.to and wrote my first post:
Why Iβm Learning to Code as a Civil Servant in Korea
π Why I'm Sharing This
Iβm still a total beginner.
Iβve only written a basic Python login script so far.
But Iβm learning every day β and maybe this post will inspire someone else out there whoβs also starting late, or starting scared.
If thatβs you: youβre not alone. Letβs keep going. πͺ
Thanks for reading! π
