Introducing LangSteps v1.0.0
Learning a programming language is one challenge. Organizing the learning process, finding useful practice material, and keeping track of progress across different technologies can be another.
That's the motivation behind LangSteps, a browser-based programming-learning project that brings multiple learning tracks and practice-oriented resources into one place.
I'm pleased to share its first stable release: v1.0.0.
The current learning catalogue
LangSteps v1.0.0 includes seven learning tracks:
HTML
CSS
JavaScript
React
Python
TypeScript
Rust
The selection spans web fundamentals, frontend development, general-purpose programming, and systems programming concepts.
My aim is to make it easier to move between technologies without losing the structure of the learning process.
Features worth exploring
- Structured learning content
Each language has a dedicated learning area, allowing users to explore concepts relevant to that technology.
- Quizzes and practice
Quizzes, examples, and available interactive practice features help learners revisit concepts and check their understanding.
Some language-specific playground and diagnostic features use simulated execution rather than a full native language runtime, so these are best treated as learning aids.
- Progress and personalization
LangSteps includes browser-based progress features and customization options. Supported progress data can also be exported and imported.
- A broader learning toolkit
The project includes additional resources such as a glossary, cheat sheets, flashcards, code snippets, interview preparation, coding challenges, and other developer tools.
The goal is to make the platform useful not only when learning a new topic, but also when revisiting concepts later.
Why a browser-based learning platform?
I wanted LangSteps to provide a convenient way to get started. The public site is hosted using GitHub Pages, allowing learners to explore the learning experience directly in their browsers without first installing a complete development toolchain.
For developers interested in how the project is organized, the repository includes the static site source, TypeScript components, project documentation, and an ASP.NET Core backend codebase.
What's next?
The planned v1.1.0 milestone includes three additional learning tracks:
Go
SQL
C# & .NET 9
These additions will expand the catalogue beyond the seven tracks included in the current stable release.

If you explore LangSteps, I'd appreciate feedback on the structure of the learning material, ease of navigation, accessibility, and which concepts deserve more depth.
I'm especially interested in hearing what developers look for in an educational platform when moving from the basics toward more advanced programming topics.
Thanks for reading, and happy learning!
