Learning Experience at Crio Winter of Doing Program

Recently I got a chance to learn about a Fantastic company named Crio started by former employees of Google / Motorola. They were doing a free program named Winter of Doing. This is a one of a kind program focussed on bringing together budding engineering talent to work on challenging projects for the most exciting startups in the country. At Crio, all the programs are thoughtfully designed experiences for developers to learn in-demand tech skills by building real-world projects, rather than watching ineffective videos or sitting through long online tutorials. This program has three stages stated below

Stages
Stage 1 (Warm-Up)

Pick up essential development skills (HTTP + REST API + Linux)
Demystifying Cloud with learning module on AWS
Get introduced to Full-Stack development by building a beautiful portfolio for yourself
Duration: 2 weeks (Fully remote, Online, Part-time)

Stage 2 (Preparation)

Get introduced to back-end and front-end concepts and the tech stacks required for the Externship
Complete a timed coding challenge in any language of your choice.
Complete a mini-project (Project details to be revealed closer to this stage)
Duration: 2 weeks (Fully remote, Online, Part-time)

Stage 3 (Externships (Projects))

Get assigned to an Externship project based on your performance and fit
Deliver the project as per the project plan and demo the final project to the company
Duration: 6 weeks (Fully remote, Online, Part-time)

Stage 1
HTTP
Get a clear understanding of how HTTP works.
Use tools like cURL & Postman to perform HTTP requests and analyze responses

REST
Understand what REST APIs are
Understand how to make REST API calls

Linux Basics 1
Get rid of the fear of Linux terminal
Get familiar with the basic commands necessary to navigate a Linux box

Deploy App server in AWS
Launch your first virtual server in AWS
Deploy the app back-end server
Connect Mobile app to the app back-end server

Git Basics
Understand how Git works

HTML and CSS
Get started using HTML for web pages
Get started using CSS to style web pages
Get introduced to CSS Flexbox
Create your first static website

QPrep JavaScript
Solve programming tasks in Javascript to learn the basics.
You will learn Javascript ES6 features by solving these problems.

QProfile
You will be designing and deploying your personal profile web page which can be publicly shared.

Micro Experiences
Crio Micro-Experiences is the best thing that has happened to me. When I applied for this program I thought it might be similar to the other programs in the market - watching assigned videos and implementing things. But I was wrong. The learning I got from Crio is incomparable. The modules were designed in such a way that without learning about the concepts enough, you won't be able to implement them. There's no shortcut. Proper time must be allotted to reading documentation, tutorials, blogs, and more to cross the modules. The program made sure you get out of your comfort zone and thrive.

Community Learning

Around 10K+ participated in this program, most of them were in slack and we can ask questions based on the modules, and the Crio staff will help us, in resolving them. This is the best thing I can say. We all learn by teaching / helping others
