Finally, never take GMail for granted, always use a separate mail for careers
My take on this: It's not primarily the fault of Gmail as well for marking the email from MLH as spam. It primarily depends on the email content, the reputation of the mail sender (ISP/MailServer), past history/activity, past spam reports and much more. Using some other email provider won't solve the problem, rather brings in more problems. To add, Recruiters actually recommend to use Gmail for career related stuff :)
I guess u have mistaken my point. What I am trying to convey there is to use 'a new mail address', not 'the email provider'. Basically a personal email and another one for careers. So that you can check for mails accordingly and avoid marketing emails which are usually more often in personal mails (unless we adjust email preferences 😅).
And yeah during the first iteration of MLH Fellowship as most of the previous mails from MLH are about Hackathons and related stuff, it might have led Gmail to consider the Interview mail as a Spam.
For further actions, you may consider blocking this person and/or reporting abuse
We're a place where coders share, stay up-to-date and grow their careers.
