Everywhere and Nowhere: Why Universal Presence Isn't a Brand Strategy
In a universal assistant, you're never the one speaking. Unforgettable somewhere beats invisible everywhere.
In a universal assistant, you're never the one speaking. Unforgettable somewhere beats invisible everywhere.
The pitch is everywhere: be "present" in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity. Hundreds of millions of people ask them questions every day. You'd be foolish not to show up.
Except one question never gets asked: show up how?
In a universal assistant, you're not the one speaking. The assistant is. With its tone, its filter, its rules. Your brand is one source among thousands, processed by the same algorithm as every competitor you have.
The offer is well-rehearsed: connect your product data, FAQs, spec sheets, and your brand becomes a source the big assistants can cite. Fine, for awareness.
But watch what the assistant does with your data. It compares. It synthesizes. It standardizes. That's its job. Its business model runs on indifferentiation.
It can relay your price. It cannot relay your voice. It can mention your brand. It cannot make it exist.
You can be the brand that best answers a generic question, and remain perfectly interchangeable in the customer's mind. Anyone who lived through the social media land grab knows the pattern: presence everywhere, identity nowhere.
Every brand will soon talk directly with its customers. That's no longer the question. The question is where, and on whose terms.
Mobile apps forced the exact same choice. Some brands built their own app, their own experience, their own relationship. Others settled for existing in someone else's search results.
There's a difference in kind between being a source in a system you don't control and being the narrator of your own experience.
Scenaro starts from that premise: every brand deserves its own conversational space. A space where the brand speaks, with its voice, its values, its memory. An assistant that remembers a customer is back for the third time, that they already bought, that they hesitated once. That cross-session memory turns exchanges into a relationship.
At Club Français du Vin, our first customer, the Scenaro voice experience drove a marked improvement in engagement. Not because it was everywhere, because it was exactly where it needed to be, with a versioned scenario and a tone you couldn't mistake for anyone else's.
Unforgettable somewhere beats invisible everywhere.
The question isn't "how do we show up everywhere?" It's "where do we want to be unforgettable?"
