Why PDF Rotation Keeps Resetting
PDF files store page rotation as metadata in the file structure. When you rotate a page in Adobe Reader, Chrome's PDF viewer, or most preview apps, they update a local display setting — not the file. Close the app, and that setting is gone.

Common Causes of Sideways PDF Pages

Screenshots converted to PDF. Wide screenshots (landscape) often appear rotated when converted to a portrait-format PDF.
Merged PDFs from multiple sources. When combining PDFs from different sources, one document may have been created in a different orientation, resulting in mixed rotations in the merged output.
Rotating Specific Pages vs All Pages
All pages the same orientation: select "All Pages" and choose the rotation direction once.
Mixed orientations: rotate different page ranges separately. For example, pages 1–5 need 90° clockwise, pages 6–10 are already correct, pages 11–15 need 90° counter-clockwise. Run two separate rotation operations and merge the results using the Merge PDF tool.
Does Rotation Affect Text Quality?
No. PDF rotation changes the orientation metadata — it doesn't re-render or recompress the page content. Text, vector graphics, and embedded images are untouched. Quality is identical to the original.
