thesis
i updated about on philliant. same site, same name. i just wanted the about description to match how i actually want to write.
i call it a polyerudite notebook, my word for many subjects and trying to understand them before i publish. i will keep writing about work when something comes up. but i also wanted to create space for everything else i care about, because i have a lot of interests and they change all the time.
context
most of what i published here for a while was work related. data platforms, agents, the tools i use on the job. that is still true a lot of weeks, and i am not throwing any of it away.
what felt off was the about page, which made it sound like work was the only reason i post, which has never been fully accurate. i had already written about rest, travel, art, and a dozen other things that did not fit a single professional headline.
argument
nothing big changed under the hood. full disclosure regarding this website and my writing still applies. ai helps, i review, i ship what i stand behind. old posts stay where they are.
the shift is my stated direction. the next post might be about ci. it might be about a book i cannot stop thinking about or a trip i needed. i do not want to talk myself out of a topic because it is not "on brand" for data engineering.
tension or counterpoint
some readers will land on one technical post and expect only that lane forever. i am ok with that. philliant was always a notebook first. it just spent a long season deep on work.
closing
i will know if this was the right call by writing into it. for today, updating about was enough.

Calling it a notebook instead of a single lane makes the mix feel intentional, and writing into it to test the direction is a sensible way to settle it.
