OK, cool - just wanted to make sure that was covered. I know different places/regions have different patterns around internships/co-ops. Some trend to one-side or the other, and some places consider them synonyms.
In my area co-ops are far more common than internships and they're basically all paid as well. I know at my work we've have great success with co-ops both in the short term and in hiring them full time down the line. In some cases we groom them over a few co-op placements and hire them right after graduation.
In one particular hilarious case last year at a job fair someone approached me and said 'Hey Simon' like he knew me. Here I'm thinking 'who the hell is this guy?' but it turns out he was a former co-op of mine from almost 10 years ago. Now he's one of our senior devs 😁
